SIBU: The new 1000mm water main which is under construction will significantly improve the water pressure in Sibu Jaya.

Deputy Minister of Public Health, Housing, and Local Government Michael Tiang said the construction is expected to be completed in three weeks’ time.

He visited Sibu Jaya HDC flats to meet the residents and their representatives regarding the water pressure and supply issues together with Sarawak Rural Water Supply Department (JBALB), Sibu Water Board (SWB), board members, HDC staff and consultant yesterday.

“While waiting for the new main pipe to be completed and commissioned, SWB is now supplying water via water tankers daily by replenishing water into a blue water tank for each block.

“I asked for all residents in charge of the different blocks to check the water levels inside the blue tanks and must contact SWB to supply water before the blue tanks run out of water,” he said.

The Pelawan assemblyman reminded all residents to work together within the next three weeks to ensure better and more efficient management of the blue water tanks.
