KUCHING: The 4th International Sustainable Energy Summit (ISES) 2018 will be held at Pullman Hotel here on 10 and 11 April.
It is jointly organised by the Ministry of Utilities Sarawak and Sustainable Energy Development Authority (SEDA) Malaysia.
The theme for the Summit is “Sustainable Energy: the Future is Here” which is most appropriate given the global priority on climate agenda and the need to achieve energy sustainability and security.
The Summit will be officiated by Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Haji Johari Tun Abang Hajj Openg who will also be delivering his keynote address.
This was announced by Minister of Utilities Dato Sri Dr Stephen Rundi Utom at a press conference after a courtesy call on the Chief Minister at Wisma Bapa Malaysia here, yesterday.
The ISES is a biennial event helmed by SEDA Malaysia and this is the first time the Summit is hosted outside the Klang Valley.
In line with the Sarawak State Government’s strategic vision on digitalisation of the electricity system and the global trend in sustainable energy, this Summit introduces two new topics: (i) The Future Role of Blockchain in the Energy Market, (ii) The Emergence of Energy Storage Systems.
The Summit will have a total of 76 speakers comprising 39 locals and 37 international thought leaders as speakers and chairs from countries such as Germany, USA, China, Brazil, Japan, Netherland, Canada, Belgium, Philippines, Indonesia, Australia, and international organisations such as UNESCAP, USAID, ACE, UNIDO, NREL and ADB.
The Summit is expecting 700 participants both locally and internationally, and there will be a business matching session available to promote commercial activities. The Summit aims to bring together stakeholders from investors, technology providers, financial institutions and related government agencies for the business session.
Forty exhibition booths will be set up at the Summit.
