Call to benchmark ‘Wild Idea Club’ concept

SIBU: The Chief Minister’s Department has been urged to benchmark the ‘Wild Idea Club’ concept to be practised throughout Sarawak’s public service.

Director of State Service Modernization Unit, Dr Antony Valentine Laiseh said the ‘Wild Idea Club’ was first held by the Sibu Division Resident and District Office.

“The Wild Ideas Club aims to encourage innovative ideas and suggestions from the staff of every level.

 “I have been informed that community leaders are also involved in the programme and exposed with the concept to make them able to contribute ideas based on their perspective as community leaders,” he said, adding that its means that all civil servants diversify their knowledge and thus fully utilize their skills and knowledge with dedication by contributing ideas.

 Dr Anthony said this while representing deputy state secretary Datu Sabariah Putit at the ‘Integrity and Innovation Day of Sibu Resident and District Offices at RH Hotel here yesterday.

According to him, innovation could introduce civil servants with new ways of doing things by fully utilizing the latest technologies and at the same time enhancing the knowledge of civil servants to equip them to become development and transformation agents to Sarawak. 

“This is in line with the recommendations of Sarawak chief minister who introduced the digital economy as a new dimension in the development of Sarawak,” he added.

 Earlier in his speech, Sibu Resident Hii Chang Kee saidthe Integrity and Innovation Day is held  to enhance the awareness of the staff on the importance of integrity and innovation in the public service. 

 “An honest and creative civil service is vital to maintain public support and trust in the Government. It is an important cornerstone of effective governance.  Sibu Division Resident and District Offices are committed to uphold the highest standard of integrity and conduct in our service delivery to the customers.”
