KUCHING: When CMS staffers read a newspaper report on an OKU boy named Edison, they were touched by the report. So they passed the hat around and managed to buy some S26 milk packets and cans for Edison.

The milk packets and cans were later handed over by three representatives of the staffers Patricia King, Susan Chin and Ngu Siew Pin to Hope Place founder, Kelvin Wan. Hope Place is an NGO which visits the poor and less fortunate families to contribute essential food items like rice, cooking oil, sugar, salt, biscuits and noodles.

A lot of these families or individuals barely earn enough to get them through the month. Hence, many are grateful with the assistance of these basic necessities delivered to them. For families with children with special needs, or with the elderly or disabled, they are provided with milk powder, oat and diapers as well. Hope Place carries out their aid deliveries once every two months because of the many families on their recipients’ list.
