SRI AMAN: A man died after his motorcycle was involved in an accident at Kilometre 3, Sri Aman/Kuching Road near Sri Aman yesterday morning.

Sri Aman District Police chief DSP Haji Othman Sulaiman said the man died at the crash near the junction going into Taman Rancangan Perumahan Rakyat (RPR).

The victim was identified as Albert Sanjan, 32, from Wong Panjai, Lubok Antu.

“Based on the investigation, Albert was riding a Honda motorcycle along the main road from Temudok towards Sri Aman town centre at 5.50am prior to the crash.

“When he was coming nearer to the RPR area, another female motorcyclist was coming out from the junction of the residential area into the main road. This was when the accident occured,” he said.

The crash caused the death of the victim right on the spot while the female motorcyclist Kong Foh Ing, 47, escaped with injuries on her left hand.

She was rushed to the emergency and accident ward of Sri Aman Hospital for treatment whereas the body of the deceased was brought to the hospital mortuary for post mortem.

“The family of the deceased has been notified about the fatal accident,” said the local police chief adding that the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

He pointed out the fatal accident occured at a straight road during good weather under bright condition (of street lighting).
