KUCHING: The Mini s t r y of Tourism, Arts, Culture, Youth and Sports will continue to support the Padawan Raft Safari as one of the tourism products in the state. According to the ministry’s Permanent Secretary Ik Pahon Joyik, who represented the Minister of Tourism, Arts, Culture, Youth and Sports, Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah at the closing of the safari, the event would be organised annually as it was included in the state tourism calendar.

“This means that the Padawan Raft Safari will continue to be organised with the cooperation of the Padawan Muni c ipa l Council (MPP) and the Ministry,” said Ik when closing the safari at Kampung Git, Jalan Puncak Borneo, yesterday.

He added that more activities such as cultural performances and traditional sports should be included. More events should also be organised at Kampung Sumedang to promote the unique natural attraction in the area.

“If we do not showcase our uniqueness, who else is going to promote it to the world?” he asked. Ik also urged the villagers along Sungai Sarawak Kanan to take good care of the river.
