KUCHING: Political Secretary to the Chief Minister, Tan Kai yesterday said that the Sarawak Veterinary Department vaccinated dogs and cats against rabies at Kampung Semeba near here.

Many people, he said, rushed to Dewan Masyarakat of Kampung Semeba with their dogs and cats.

All the vaccines were used up by 1.30pm and the Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) leaders were at the ground to understand better the situation.

The Sarawak Veterinary Department, according to Tan Kai, had prepared for 700 vaccinations but they were insufficient as people from Kuching City and Bau all rushed there to vaccinate their pets.

After a discussion with the people, Tan Kai and Councillor Wilfred Yap visited Dr Adrian Susin Ambud, the Director of the Sarawak Veterinary Department.

The Director, according to Tan Kai, has agreed to further provide door-to door services to those whose pets missed the vaccinations yesterday.

Meanwhile, the department will also carry out the vaccinations for pets at the 7th Mile Basketball court today from10am -12.30pm and from 2pm – 4pm.
