RM6.8 million paid to 56 landowners

SIBU:  A total of 56 landowners whose land was acquired for the expansion of Kemuyang New Township in Sungai Pasai, Sibu received compensation amounting to RM6.814 million.

Assistant Minister of Housing and Public Health, Dr Annuar Rapaee said the land acquired for the expansion was 78.454 acres.

He expressed his gratitude to the landowners for their cooperation towards the expansion of the new township in Sungai Pasai here.

“About 900 house lots will be built in the area. For the first phase, a total of 184 house lots will be built with 143 lots provided to fire victims and their extended families in Kampung Datu and Kampung Hilir,” he said at the presentation of land compensation held at Sibu Land and Survey Department here yesterday.

Dr Annuar, who is also Assistant Minister of Education and Technological Research said infrastructure facilities such as electricity and water supply, roads and drainage in the new township would be implemented by the government.

The Kemuyang New Township project was launched by former Chief Minister, the late Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem on 14 February last year.

Sibu Land and Survey Department Superintendent Norlina Ra’ee was among those present at the function.
