MIRI: Sarawak women’s football team made it to the final of the 30th Edition of Tun Sharifah Rodziah Cup 2017 football championship in Miri Mini Stadium, here, today.

Sarawak defeated favourites PDRM 3-2 in the semifinals on Thursday on penalties shootout following a goalless draw.

It will be a historic final for the team coached by Mohd Hakimi Man (head coach) who will play for the first time for the prestigious title.

“I admit that we are so overjoy and happy because we finally made it to the final,” said Hakimi.

“Thanks to all the players. Their hard work throughout the game has paid off,” he said.

“PDRM) were lined with many experienced players. Fortunately, it did not dampen the fighting spirit of our players,” he said.

Sarawak will play against Kedah for the title today. Kedah ensured the slot into the final after defeating Pahang 1-0 in a match at Padang KRP, Lutong.

Meanwhile, Football Association of Sarawak (FAS) president, Dato Posa Majais has announced a ‘special bonus’ for the players should they become champions in today afternoon match.

“We (FAS) will give a ‘special bonus’ to the players if they clinch the title tomorrow,” said Dato Posa yesterday.
