SELANGAU: Two women were seriously injured after the car they were travelling in collided with a lorry at KM 57 Jalan Sibu-Selangau here yesterday afternoon.

According to Stapang Police Station chief, Sergeant Tundoi Jang, the victims, in their 40s and 30s, were heading to their longhouse at Mile 36 Tamin when the car collided with the lorry laden with quarry stones at the Sungai Sebenda Bridge at around 2.00pm.

He said it was raining at the time of the incident and the lorry driver, aged 46, was heading to Sibu from Mile 36 Tamin.

Tundoi said the victims were taken Sibu Hospital for treatment by members of the public.

The lorry driver, he said was uninjured in the incident and police were still investigating the cause of the accident.
