KUCHING: The Sarawak Children’s Cancer Society allocated approximately RM33,000 from its funds raised to help children who are newly diagnosed with cancer and their caregivers to adjust to life at the ward.

The society pointed out that it takes resilience and a strong support system for a family to cope with the challenges and life adjustment that come after a childhood cancer diagnosis.

“These funds will provide a once-off token of love and a care pack amounting to RM400 for about 90 new childhood cancer patients.

“While the care pack includes essential items such as toiletries, towels, a thermometer, eating utensils and a thermal flask, the once-off token will help caregivers to pay for any food or necessity expenses at the ward,” it said in a social media post.

The society added that among the many other support services rendered for new patients, the financial support also includes sponsorship of lab tests, consumables, and COVID-19 related expenses as well as provision of monthly financial allowance, accommodate and transportation when necessary.
