SIBU: People living with spinal cord injury are no different from able-bodied persons despite their disability, says an assemblyman.

Dudong assemblyman Datuk Tiong Thai King hoped that the medical field would keep on advancing, and a breakthrough one day would treat those with the disability.

Meanwhile, KRT Kiew Nang Po chairperson Kapitan Connie Loh presented a donation to the Sibu Spinal Cord Injury Association, represented by chairman Liu Bee Sang.

Loh in her speech also touched on people with the disability.

“There are many unfortunate people in this world, for example, those from the Sibu Spinal Cord Injury Association.

“The misery that they go through in life is completely beyond our imagination. But they remain strong and persevere, and live positively,” she said.

She hoped that more people would help the association in whatever way they can.

“I hope our event today can help create publicity for the Sibu Spinal Cord Injury Association, and hopefully, more people will take notice,” she said Tuesday night.

Loh added that since the establishment of KRT Kiew Nang Po, they had been organising quite a number of social activities for the residents in the area.

“The social activities allow us to build stronger ties. It also helps us understand the situation in the area better, so that we can focus on the needs of the residents and serve them efficiently.”
