MIRI: A 30-year-old man has been detained after he ran amok and smashed the windows of his father’s car on Saturday afternoon.
A team of Miri Criminal Investigation (CID) personnel led by Inspector Saiful Azizi Kamlun picked up the suspect around 4.49pm that same day and seized a 61-cm long machete believed to have been used in the incident.
The man was believed to have run amok because of an ice cream.
According to sources, the incident occurred at around noon at a house in Pujut 5 here.
Sources added the suspect became furious after his 71-year-old father told him that there was no more ice cream in the freezer.
Frustrated, he took a machete, ran to his father’s car and started smashing the driver’s window.
Fearing for their safety, his parents ran out of the house and sought their neighbours’ help.
