SIBU: The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDNHEP) Sibu branch confirmed that there was no panic buying among residents here during the implementation of the movement control order (MCO), which started today (May 29)

Its chief Kelyn Bolhassan @ Haliward said the results of the monitoring operation by its enforcement officers around shopping premises in the city yesterday (May 29) found that the situation was under control.

He also reminded the public to adhere to the two-hour shopping limit according to standard operating procedures (SOPs) that have been set.

“We remind people not to panic and buy prudently. KPDNHEP will ensure that there will be adequate supply of goods,” said Kelyn.

In the meantime, he said KPDNHEP Sibu conducts daily inspections and monitoring to ensure there is adequate food.

Throughout the inspection and monitoring period, Kelyn found that supplies are sufficient and consumers can still purchase essential items as usual.
