KUCHING: The sixth edition of Ora Et Labora Run, organised by The Old Josephians’ Association (OJA) Kuching, will be held in October at SMK St Joseph.
The run on Oct 7 is themed ‘I Run for St Joseph’s’.
OJA said the run is an opportunity for a reunion for ex-students to serve their alma mater.
Datuk Seri Dr. Sim Kui Hian, who is the OJA president, launched the Ora Et Labora 2023 during the OJA committee meeting last night at the SMK St Joseph’s newly restored Mill Hill Block together with OJA committee members, principal of SMK St Joseph James Chen, St Joseph’s International School principal Brother Robert Teoh and St Joseph’s Private School sports master Andrew Hii and representatives from Revolution Run Borneo.
“OJA has been organising several activities to unite present and past students of the three St Joseph’s secondary schools.
“Many have been supporting the run before and it has been very successful,” said Dr Sim, who is the Deputy Premier.
He said, last year, the event attracted more than 1,200 runners and hoped that this year the run will attract more than 1,400 runners.
“Indeed, we plan to add a food and fun fair to spruce up the festivity and to provide an opportunity to raise funds for the school’s extra-curricular activities and for the students to engage in simple business trials.
“With all three schools involved as a team, it is hoped that a solid network and a closer bond can be forged,” he said.
The run is divided into the 1.4km walk for families and children, 5km fun run and 10km race.
The registration fee is RM50 for the 1.4km walk and 5km fun run, and RM60 for the 10km race.
