PUSA: The Pusa Regatta has a new name now—it’s called the Tandang Sari Regatta. This change honours the history of Tandang Sari, Dato’ Godam, Dang Isah, and others, ensuring their memory lives on.
Batang Lupar MP Mohamad Shafizan Kepli said this will make the regatta here unique.
“The Tandang Sari Regatta is scheduled from September 22 to 24.
“This time, we’ve added something interesting. We’re connecting it to history… about Tandang Sari and its connection with the Bruneian government in the past.
“We’ve invited Dato’ Godam’s heirs from Brunei to join us in making this regatta even livelier.
“Beyond the boat races, it’s a chance for our local community, especially the young people, to explore Pusa District, previously known as Tandang Sari,” Mohamad Shafizan said.
He said this during the Tandang Sari 2023 Regatta Working Committee Meeting at his service centre yesterday.
The organisers are determined to make this year’s regatta the best one yet.
“In previous editions, we’ve shown our commitment, and this year is no different.
“With support from the Ministry of Tourism, we hope to make the Tandang Sari Regatta a regular event on Sarawak’s tourism calendar.
“This is a way for us to not only receive support from the ministry but also promote the Pusa District,” he said.
“Teamwork is crucial, as the saying goes, ‘Water is round because of sewers, and people come together through consensus’,” he added.
This edition’s highlight is the Tandang Sari Cup, with a grand prize of RM15,000.
