KUCHING: Sarawak plans to introduce an Ombudsman Ordinance.

Deputy Minister of Integrity and Ombudsman Datuk Dr Juanda Jaya said a proposal has been to this effect to amplify and enhance integrity in the state.

He added that Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg is proud of Sarawak’s preparations for the introduction of the Ombudsman Ordinance.

Sharing sessions will be held with Scandinavian countries, Hong Kong, Singapore and many others which already have implemented acts related to the ombudsman, he said.

“The Integrity and Ombudsman Unit will continue to move forward with its mandate given by the Premier to ensure the 2030 vision can be achieved,” he said after a courtesy visit to the Premier at Wisma Bapa Malaysia on Saturday.

The purpose of the courtesy visit was to provide reports and updates of the Sarawak’s Ombudsman Committee as well as provide further suggestions on the implementation of projects in the State to ensure the integrity of projects is achievable.

Earlier, Abang Johari received a courtesy visit from State Audit Director, Rokiah Sahat.

Besides that, Abang Johari also received a courtesy visit from HSBC Bank Malaysia Berhad led by its group director, Datuk Omar Siddiq.
