LUNDU: Opar assemblyman Billy Sujang wants to get moving quickly on several development projects which have been identified for implementation in the area.

He said the decision to include the establishment of a hospital and clinic in the 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP) is greatly appreciated but pointed out that there were still a few years to go.

The construction of the new Biawak Health clinic, meanwhile, should be hastened although the previous land has been reclaimed by the descendants of the landowner, he said.

Billy speaks after attending Majlis Ramah Tamah Aidilfitri at Kampung Temaga Melayu.

“Now that it has been reclaimed, the Health Ministry has been urged to start the construction of the clinic at a new site,” he said to reporters after attending the Majlis Ramah Tamah Aidilfitri at Kampung Temaga Melayu here on Sunday (May 29).

Billy added that the construction of the proposed hospital would benefit the people in the area although it is still in the evaluation stage.

“For the hospital, even if there is already a site, we have to make other cost calculations including beds and such.

“Only then can we apply for allocations for the construction of the facilities needed,” he said.

On a related matter, he called for plans on the proposed new town in Opar to take off this year.

“The first thing to do after this Gawai Day celebration is to identify a place for the new town.

“Various aspects need to be taken into account so that the town can develop in the best possible way,” Billy added.
