KAPIT: Three enforcement agencies — the Traffic Police, Road and Transport Department, and the Immigration Department — launched a road block named ‘Ops Sepadu’ (an integrated road safety and traffic operation) at Jalan Airport here on Wednesday afternoon from 4pm to 6pm.
Some 20 enforcement personnel from the three agencies led by traffic police officer Inspector Conisius Tinggang took part in the operation.
As Jalan Airport is the main route into and out of Kapit Town, hundreds of vehicles were inspected during the operation.
Conisius said that the operation was held in conjunction with the Chinese New Year celebration.
“We wanted to ensure that drivers have valid driving licence and road tax and their vehicles are in good condition,” he said, adding that they were also on the lookout for illegal immigrants.
