LUNDU: A total of 50 orphans and persons with disabilities (PwDs) in the Tanjung Datu area received donations in the form of clothes in conjunction with Ramadan.

Minister of Women, Family and Community Development (KPWKM) who is also Santubong MP Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri said the contribution is aimed at easing the financial strain on parents and caregivers during this festive season.

“Although it is still early, parents have high commitments in terms of Hari Raya expenses.

“Therefore, we are looking for ways to assist, and Alhamdulillah, we are able to assist 50 recipients today,” she said at the Ramadan Love Programme with Orphans and PwDs at a supermarket here on Sunday (Mar 17).

This initiative, a collaborative effort between the National Welfare Foundation (YKN) and Alliance Islamic Bank, is now in its second year.

Earlier, Nancy also distributed food baskets to 80 recipients comprising senior citizens, single mothers, and PwDs in the Tanjung Datu area.
