Outreach programmes receive awesome response

MIRI: Pustaka Negeri Sarawak, Miri’s recently held Outreach Programmes in Long San, Long Banga and Bario. All events received overwhelming response from the community.

According to a press statement by Pustaka, the activities held from July 26 to 30 were done in collaborations with Tabung Ekonomi Gagasan Anak Sarawak (TEGAS) and were based on knowledge, information and technology.

“The activities were conducted by the library’s Community Engagement Service Division (CESD).

“The activities held included Introduction to Pustaka Briefing, Information Literacy Skills Session, PANDei (People Accessible Network & Digital Empowerment Inclusivity) Session, Briefing on Online Safety as well as Reading Seeds Workshop for new parents and parents to-be,” said the statement.

Pustaka said apart from those, MBot Challenge, virtual reality (VR) games and Mini Drone Flying also attracted many participants, especially the younger generation.

“A total of 90 students and three teachers from SK St. Pius, Long San participated in the programme on July 25 while another 90 students and seven teachers of SK Long Banga took part the next day,” it said.

The state library said the Outreach Programme this time around was concluded in Bario with their participation in Bario Nukenen Festival on July 28 and 29.

“The library held an interactive exhibition as well as the crowd-favourite activities. They attracted some 500 participants during the two-day event and a total of 305 newly registered library members were recorded as a membership drive was also organised.

“The library, led by Regional Manager Razak Rambili, even participated in a Folk Sport Competition: Ngalubid Batang and won against teams from other agencies and community,” it said.
