SIBU: Some 2,500 participants, regardless of race and religion, attended the Ministry of Tourism, Arts, and Culture’s (MOTAC) Ngiling Bidai with the Community @ Sibu last night (July 7).

Its minister Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing said this kind of event is the uniqueness of Sarawak that he is proud of.

“It is the most beautiful culture for Malaysia compared to the international level.

“This uniqueness will attract many visitors to our country. I hope and will strive to make this view a uniqueness of Malaysia,” he said in his text-of-speech read by his deputy Khairul Firdaus Akbar Khan.

Tiong, who is also the Bintulu Member of Parliament, said that this uniqueness also reflects the concept of Malaysia Madani, which is emphasised by the Unity Government.

He said the true meaning of Malaysia Madani is an integrated and holistic effort to make all policies and implementations in Malaysia more humane and continually improve them through dialogue and feedback from the people.

“We need to remember the six core values of Malaysia Madani: sustainability, prosperity, innovation, respect, trust, and compassion.

“I am confident that if we understand and practise these core values, Malaysia will continue to be peaceful, prosperous, and respected by the world in the future.

“Let us make every effort to achieve the aspirations of this government,” he said.

Also present were Deputy Minister of Transport Datuk Henry Harry Jinep, Deputy Minister of Education, Innovation, and Talent Development Dr Annuar Rapaee, Bukit Assek assemblyman Joseph Chieng Jin Ek, MOTAC secretary-general Datuk Saraya Arbi, and others.
