Bau: A police party led by Bau Police chief, DSP Mohd Sabri bin Zainol went to Gold Hill Estate to give a talk to the residents there and to get to know them. With him were heads from the Narcotic Department, Traffic, MPV and Bau OCS.

The invitation was sent to the police chief as the area has been hard hit by housebreaking cases and thefts and other criminal activities of late. Residents were worried of foreigners coming to their area to steal their vehicles and to break into their houses.

Sabri stressed the importance of a strong neigbourhood relationship in crime prevention.

“ A strong knit community can overcome threats from outside,” he said to a group of more than 30 residents of Gold Hill Estate. He pointed out that members of the public should always alert the police when they see any suspicious characters.

“It is our job to protect and we are committed to do our job to ensure public safety,” he said.

Sabri also called parents to monitor their children from drug abuse and noted a strong family bond is one of the most effective ways to overcome drug abuse. “ Always monitor your children’s movement and observe any changes in their behaviour,” he advised.

The talk was held at a residence of Nathan Achute who said it was good of the police chief to come and establish a closer rapport with them. He said by knowing the police personally, they will know whom to contact in time of trouble.
