Over RM600k in MRP funds distributed

SARATOK: More than RM600,000 of minor rural project (MRP) allocations were distributed to various non-governmental organisations (NGOs) in the Krian state constituency.

Assemblyman Friday Belik said it involved 11 clubs and associations, 16 Parents and Teachers Associations (PIBG) and bureaus.

“In addition, also receiving were 41 Village Development and Security Committees (JKKKs). The total for the 72 recipients was RM398,200.

“In addition, we also presented a grant from the Other Religious Affairs Unit (UNIFOR) worth RM230,000,” he said at the handover ceremony held at the Saratok District Council Library Meeting Room, recently.

He explained that the UNIFOR funds were to build a new Saint Matthew Church, Meruji Kabo.

“The other two involve the renovation of Saint Philips Lempa Church and BEM Sungai Kelampai Church.

“I hope that the grant allocations from the Sarawak government will be used as best as possible for the benefit of the community as a whole,” he said.

Friday also wanted the finances of each NGO or body to be managed transparently, so that there is no misuse.
