KUCHING: The Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Youth wing backs Sibuti MP Lukanisman Awang Sauni to be re-nominated in the upcoming 15th General Election (GE15).

PBB Youth chief Miro Simuh said the wing is giving full support to its deputy youth chief to continue to serve the people after the end of the current parliamentary term.

He said the wing is also prepared to present possible new candidates who are young and energetic if presented with the opportunity by the party’s top leadership.

“We will give our full support for Lukanisman to be retained as a candidate (in his parliamentary constituency) again.

“As the backbone party for the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS), we will work together with the other component parties namely Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP), Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) and Progressive Democratic Party (PDP) for the upcoming GE15,” he said.

He said this during a press conference after the first PBB Youth Movement executive committee meeting at PBB Headquarters today.

The Serembu assemblyman revealed that there will be a retreat involving GPS component parties’ youth wings in preparation to face the GE15.

He said collaboration between the component parties is crucial as there are many challenges given the various issues happening in the country.

“We know that the opposition will play on such issues in terms of rhetoric provocation and so on. So, we will have to plan on how best to refute and explain to the people on what is happening as well as the reasons behind it.

“As the backbone of the GPS government and Sarawak, we need a strong and powerful team to make our respective parties stronger and for the people to be accepting of us,” he said.

When asked whether he would consider becoming a candidate to be fielded at Puncak Borneo, Miro said there are many candidates who are of caliber out there.

“It is enough for me to be an assemblyman, there is no need to be greedy,” he said.
