KUCHING: The Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) has informed the state that the decision to transfer nine policemen now under criminal investigation to Sarawak and Sabah will be reviewed by its leadership.

In a statement the State Secretary’s Office today said the PDRM had also welcomed the Sarawak government’s call to only transfer officers and personnel who have the highest integrity and free of any criminal investigation or wrongdoing.

It had made the call following Selangor Deputy Police Chief Datuk S Sasikala Devi’s statement on Aug 2 on transferring the nine police personnel to Sabah and Sarawak.

A news portal quoted her as saying the nine police personnel are under investigation for alleged involvement in in a recent blackmail case.

“We have checked with the Sarawak Police Commissioner and were informed that, so far, the said personnel have not reported for duty at the Sarawak Police Contingent headquarters,” said the State Secretary’s Office.

“We welcome the police’s effort for additional manpower in the force here to keep the peace and for the safety of Sarawakians.”
