KUCHING: Traditional sports will also be included in Pesta Ujud 2022 on July 23-24 at Kampung Kelka, Simunjan.
Simunjan assemblyman Awla Dris said the traditional sports were, among others, slippery pole climb and coconut throwing.
“Other nostalgic activities are fishing, mento senek (catching prawns) using ancient methods,” he told Arena Suara Sarawak.
“The festival will actually start on July 16 and July 23-24 are the dates for the final stage.
“What’s interesting for this year’s event is that the organising committee, Anak-Anak Kelka Simunjan, will try to present something different.”
Pesta Ujud is a regular event held near the estuary of Kampung Kelka, Simunjan since the 1950s.
