KUCHING: Petroliam Nasional Berhad (PETRONAS) is gearing up to celebrate its 50th anniversary with a series of activities throughout the year.

PETRONAS head of Media Communications Jalina Joheng said the oil and gas company is putting together plans to commemorate its 50 years anniversary.

”We want to give back to the community in a meaningful way and appreciate what they have given us and how they have supported us,” she said during her speech at PETRONAS-Kuching Media networking dinner at Hilton Hotel on Friday (Jan 12).

Jalina, a Sarawak native and former journalist, expressed her gratitude to the Sarawak media for their relentless support in conveying news and stories to PETRONAS’ various stakeholders both in Sarawak and throughout Malaysia.

“We are indeed grateful for your unwavering support to convey our news, especially in Sarawak and throughout Malaysia. You guys have helped, addressing the masses in Sarawak especially.

“What’s more important is the coverage was mostly fair, positive and highly informative,” she said.

Jalina recently assumed the role of PETRONAS head of Media Communications following the retirement of Azman Ibrahim.

Later in her speech, she also wished everyone a happy Chinese New Year and encouraged the company to continue to build strong relationships with the media as well as the community.
