DARO: PETROS Multifuel Station in Daro is the first step to developing many more such stations outside Kuching, said Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.

He said besides Daro, Sibu and Kapit will be the next destinations for the multifuel station owned by Sarawak.

“This will be the state of preparation in our efforts to change the usage of fossil fuel vehicles to electric vehicles in the near future.

“We can produce our own electricity because we have hydropower. Besides that, we will also use hydrogen-fueled vehicles.

“Therefore, with these two kinds of new technologies in vehicles, we will have control over the mitigation of carbon in the state,” he said in a press conference after the launch of the PETROS Multifuel Station in Daro today.

Abang Johari stressed that such technologies are more sustainable for our environment.

“It is one of our steps to not pollute our environments.

“And that is why we develop PETROS, so that we can also supply multifuel technologies in rural areas,” he added.

Meanwhile, with the development plan for the area, the premier pointed out that Daro would be flooded with vehicles travelling in and out of the place.

“This will include vehicles such as lorries, and we also want lorries to use electric technologies to avoid pollution.

“We are more advanced in green energy. I hope our people will support us (the state government) in transforming our state into a green economy,” he said.
