PM to open two-day Islamic conference

KUCHING: Nine papers will be presented at the two-day Imam As-Syafi’i International Conference which will be officiated by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim here on May 18.

The conference will be held on Wednesday and Thursday (May 17-18) at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK).

“This year’s seminar will gather experts in As-Syafi’i from countries such as Jordan, Yemen, Brunei and Indonesia alongside presenters from other countries as well,” said Deputy Minister for Utility and Telecommunications Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi.

He said this during the press conference on the upcoming seminar at BCCK yesterday (May 15).

It is organised by the Sarawak Mufti Department and Academy of Islamic Studies Universiti Malaya.

Also present during the press conference was Sarawak Islamic Council (MIS) president Datuk Misnu Taha, and Sarawak Mufti Datuk Kipli Yassin.
