Police chief acknowledges media’s vital role

SIBU: Local police chief ACP Zulkipli Suhaili thanked media practitioners for their efforts in disseminating correct information to the public.

He highlighted the importance of accurate facts and information in news writing in order not to confuse the community.

“I have worked closely extensively with the media, especially in cases involving scammers, to ensure that the increasing cases of is effectively communicated to the public.

“This way, we can collectively combat scam-related issues through effective dissemination to the public with the help of the media,” he said in his speech after witnessing the handover of duties between outgoing Criminal Investigation Division (CID) chief ASP Mohd Fazirul Mohd Fisol and incoming chief DSP Abdul Razak Musa here today.

Zulkipli said Abdul Razak has been in service for 26 years in Sarawak, and his previous position was Kota Samarahan CID chief.

“This is nothing new to him (Abdul Razak). He has extensive experience in criminal investigation, the most important thing for us is to ensure that the CID office is able to perform its duties in the best possible way,” he said.

Zulkipli urged all the officers to work together to ensure that the town’s environment is safe.

“Even though there is a decline in crime cases, we must not let our guard down. The community puts their trust in us to take care of the town’s safety,” he added.
