Police nab a drug criminal in Serikin

KUCHING: A 52-year-old male was successfully apprehended by the Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department (NCID) along the Serikin village in Bau for drug related activities today.

Bau police chief, DSP Jawai Francis said during the operation, law enforcement officers seized a sling bag from the suspect, which contained two packets of plastic wrap, suspected to contain dangerous drugs.

“The substances inside were found to be white crystal-like in appearance. The suspect has been detained and is currently under investigation in accordance with Section 39B and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

“Subsequent urine screening tests confirmed the presence of drugs in the suspect’s body, further substantiating the charges against him. The seized drugs, weighing approximately 51.44 grams, are estimated to be valued at RM3000,” she said.

She affirmed the police is seeking a remand detention for the suspect to facilitate ongoing investigations into the matter.
