KUALA LUMPUR: The police have opened an investigation paper (IP) into the case of a woman who was unhappy with a secondary school teacher for allegedly pushing her 15-year-old son to convert to Islam.

Cheras district police chief ACP Zam Halim Jamaluddin said the woman lodged a report yesterday and the investigation was being conducted under Section 298A of the Penal Code, which is causing disharmony or feelings of enmity or ill-will on religious grounds.

The police have recorded statements from several witnesses and advised the public not to speculate,” he said in a statement today.

Zam Halim said anyone with information regarding the incident can contact the Cheras Police Hotline at 03-92845050/5051, the Kuala Lumpur Police Hotline at 03-21159999 or any police station. – BERNAMA
