Politeknik Mukah staff seminar to enhance excellence

MUKAH: Politeknik Mukah (PMU) here recently organised an academic seminar for its 23 staff to enhance excellence.

Of the total, 12 were from the engineering department and 23 from non-engineering.

The two-day seminar was organised by the General Studies Department in collaboration with Innovation and Commercial Research Unit and PMU Centre of Technology Development Unit.

Themed “TVET Education Transformation Towards Industrial Revolution 4.0”, it was held simultaneously at three venues — ULPL seminar room, commerce lecture hall and entrepreneurship development room.

PMU director Dullah Muluk officiated at the opening and closing.

He said it provided an opportunity for academic and management staff to present their research papers in social science and engineering.

“This is in line with the objective of making research a culture among PMU staff, while providing an opportunity to do research and contribute to PMU in an effort to enhance excellence in technical and vocational education.”

The director also urged all staff to shift their thinking and practice towards achieving the goal laid down in the National Education philosophy.

He added that they also needed to be aware and proactive to current educational issues to enable them to jointly contribute to the development of a progressive and knowledgeable society.

The speakers included Dr Habsah Mohd Sabli, Dr Mas Nordiana Rusli, Dr Nursakinah Md Salleh, Dr Bong Siaw Wee, Dr Muhammad Sufyan Safwan Mohamad Basir and Diana Ringgau.

Deputy director (Academic) Mohd Sani Said, deputy director (Academic Support) Iskandar Reduan and General Studies Department head Dzatiah Mohamad also attended.
