KUCHING: Datuk Seri Syed Hamzah Syed Paie has lodged a police report over allegations linking him to Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Minister (Medac) Datuk Seri Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar over approval of grants to his wife’s company, Azzahra Product Sdn Bhd.

Syed Hamzah, who is also Wan Junaidi’s political secretary, said a police report was filed at Sekama Police Station at 9am this morning against two local Facebook account holders.

“All the relevant documents have already been handed over to the police for action to be taken under criminal case investigation for the offence of spreading false news.

“I have also appointed my lawyer in Kuching to take legal action against the two Facebook account owners for spreading slander in an effort to humiliate me,” he said in a statement issued today.

He said his lawyer in Kuala Lumpur has also been instructed to take legal action against the editor of a news portal over the unjust allegation made against himself as well as Wan Junaidi.

He explained that the SME Corp grant amounting to RM338,950 approved for his wife’s company, Azzahra Product Sdn Bhd, had nothing to do with Wan Junaidi as Medac Minister and his position as Wan Junaidi’s political secretary.

He said the grant was approved by SME Corp on October 10, 2017, while he and Wan Junaidi had only taken their post at Medac beginning on April 22, 2020.

“How is it possible that Datuk Seri Wan Junaidi and I were involved in the approval of the SME Corp grant in the last four years when we have just served at Medac in 2020.

He said the facts were contrary to the allegations made by the portal and the two Facebook account owners.

He had resigned as a director of the company and disposed of his shares in Azzahra Product Sdn Bhd on November 23, 2015.
