KUCHING: Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri hopes that more women will utilise MamaCare’s postpartum care services.

She said the Sarawak programme was designed not only to help mothers recover after giving birth, but also to help women generate additional income.

“This MamaCare programme was organised by Sarawak in 2014, and so far there are a total of 120 MamaCare practitioners throughout Sarawak.

“For me personally, this is a good programme especially for those who want to generate income to improve their economy whether they work or not, they can generate their own income.

“So far, very cheap, RM60 for one hour. For me, they need to look, review the charges. And their service is quite professional.

“I hope more people will use this MamaCare service with a reasonable payment rate offered,” she said.

She said this during her visit to the MamaCare Mini Spa at the Kuching Urban Transformation Centre (UTC) here today (Dec 29).

For the record, the all-encompassing postpartum care programme seeks to promote women and families’ general wellbeing and reproductive health.

It is also to teach women, elderly people and single mothers, especially those from low-income households how to support their families financially.

In an effort to dignify traditional massage for the well-being and economic empowerment of women, the MamaCare programme has produced many certified and professional practitioners.

A total of 40,654 clients have utilised services from MamaCare practitioners, including post-natal massage and well-being massage, generating an income totalling RM3,806,683 between 2014 and September 2021.
