Special Olympics Kuching Chapter's ‘Macam-Macam Ada’ bowling participants.

KUCHING: Pertubuhan Pemulihan Dalam Komuniti (PPDK) Sri Satok bowlers took the championship title in the main category of the ‘Macam-Macam Ada’ Bowling Competition at Riverside Superbowl here yesterday (Sept 13).

They easily knocked down 11 other teams.

In the volunteer teams category, PPDK Sentuhan Kasih Kuching took the title, bringing down 10 other teams.

Special Olympics Kuching Chapter president Datin Dayang Mariani Abang Zain said the event brought together a “vibrant community passionate about promoting inclusivity and sports excellence”.

She viewed the event as a testament to the power of sports to break barriers and foster a more inclusive society.

“The competition not only exemplifies the incredible talents of our athletes with intellectual disabilities but also the boundless spirit of unity and support within our community,” she added.

The event also celebrated two inspiring athletes from Special Olympics Sarawak, Muhd Zul Adly Majeni and Nur Syazwani Marais, for their remarkable sporting achievemens.

Muhd Zul Adly clinched an impressive tally of six gold medals, one silver medal, and three bronze medals in local competitions, with the standout moment being his two bronze medals won at the 2023 World Games in Berlin, Germany.

Meanwhile, Nur Syazwani secured an equally remarkable success, amassing a total of six gold medals, three silver medals, and two bronze medals.

Dayang noted that Nur Syazwani’s crowning achievements included securing two gold medals in the Para Sukma MSN 2022 event in both the single and mixed doubles categories.

“We extend a heartfelt thank you to all participants, volunteers, and sponsors who helped make this event a resounding success.

“The organisation is committed to continuing its mission of providing opportunities for individuals with intellectual disabilities to unleash their potential through sports,” said Dayang.
