SRI AMAN: The success of an event is a reflection of the cooperation and commitment given by each selected committee.

Community Well-being Assistant Minister Datuk Francis Harden said this when referring to the success of the Sri Aman Division Level Pre-Gawai Dayak event held at the Dewan Suarah.

Harden said Sri Aman Resident’s Office managed to gather about 700 people from various ethnicities to take part in the event.

The Simanggang assemblyman, also praised the organisers for including various activities to further enhance the celebration as well as racial harmony.

Among the programmes held was the presentation of incentives to students who excelled in the UPSR, SPM and STPM last year, lucky draw tickets, Kumang competition, ngetas ranyai gawai, and ngirup ai pengayu.

In the competition competed by seven individuals, Ullia Ulanda was crowned Kumang Gawai for the Sri Aman Division level; she took home RM2,000, a trophy and a sash.

Ullia also won the “Best Outfit” title and received RM500 cash.

Daisy Sharmin Jilin, who came second, received RM1,600 and a trophy while Elvyna Edwin, who was third, received RM1,200 and a trophy.

Four other contestants won consolation prizes of RM500 each.

Also present were Bukit Begunan assemblyman Datuk Mong Dagang, Sri Aman Public Works Department (JKR) division engineer Bujang Kanang, and Sri Aman Resident Indit Bangai who is also the organising chairperson.
