SONG: Kapit MP Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi has suggested that the Safari Baleh Kapit 2023 event in Sungai Tekalit could serve as a platform to promote the Song district.

According to Nanta, the organising committee hopes to attract more participants from other districts in the next edition of the Safari.

“This kind of programme is important as it provides opportunities for people in rural areas, particularly in Tekalit, to generate income,” said Nanta.

He said this when launching the Safari Rakit Baleh-Kapit 2023 Edition 26 here recently.

During the ceremony, Nanta also announced some approved allocations and projects, including a roof repair project for Rumah Lucy.

Additionally, an allocation of RM10,000 was made to the Parent-Teacher Associations (PTAs) of 17 primary schools in the Song district, RM20,000 to the Song District Headmaster Council, RM20,000 to the PTA for three secondary schools, and RM500 per door for 350 Heads of Household (KIR) involving 19 longhouses in the Tekalit area.

In his welcoming speech, Katibas assemblyman Lidam Assan thanked Nanta and the organisers for selecting Song as the venue for this year’s Safari.

He also hoped that the Safari will be organised in other districts in Kapit alternately, as it would improve the local economy. Song is well-known for its beautiful natural scenery, Empurau fish, and Dabai fruit.
