MIRI: Minister for Transport, Datuk Seri Lee Kim Shin has proposed the establishment of an ecobricks park here as part of the government’s efforts to promote sustainable and green development.

Today (Oct 23) during a visit to EYE 1 Recycle (Miri) Sdn Bhd in Pujut,  he called on the Miri Ecobricks movement, led by Bryan Chia, to make a proper proposal for the project to be presented to Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.

“The movement has successfully collected 20,000 ecobricks bottles, which are plastic bottles densely packed with used plastic to create reusable building blocks. This endeavour has earned a place in the Malaysia Book of Records,” he said.

Lee added that the proposal aims to create the first permanent Ecobricks park in Miri and potentially the first of its kind in Malaysia.

Deputy Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts (Tourism), Datuk Sebastian Ting Chiew Yew, was also present.
