KUCHING: Rise of Sarawak Efforts (Rose) will be holding a public forum “Chatting with Rose” this coming Saturday at the concourse floor of Summer Shopping Mall, Kota Samarahan.

Rose chairman Ann Teo said the forum will be attended by two guest panellists, Muara Tuang assemblyman Datuk Idris Buang along with Malaysian Trade Union Congress (MUTC) Sarawak secretary Andrew Lo.

“Youth and Employment in Sarawak: Opportunity or Challenge” will be the topic of the first forum.

“The main purpose of this forum is to enable free and open discourse on issues that affect the people of Sarawak, which may remain in government or policy makers,” she explained.

Ann added the public forum is consistent with the Rose’s mission for the next two years, namely educating the public and voters in implementing democratic rights.

“One of the methods or ways to implement it is to hold a public forum on current or important issues affecting the people or certain segments of our community.

“By hosting such forums, we hope to benefit from the involvement of all parties and strengthen our values as a Sarawakian who aims to build a better Sarawak future,” said Teo.

Meanwhile, Ann denied that the forum is a debate held between the two parties.

“This programme is not an academic intellectual debate between two panels, but it is a platform for members and the public to ask questions and listen to what both panels have to say,” he said.
