Public yet to understand MCO, says mayor

MIRI: Many people in the city is still not widely understood of the movement control order (MCO) announced early this week, hence, authorities should come up with new strategies and ways to have better communication with the public, says Miri Mayor Adam Yii.

Yii disclosed this after conducted a ground check at several areas yesterday.

He was accompanied by Cr Chin Fook Kim, Cr Karambir Singh, and Cr David Stephen.

Yesterday morning they went to visit Krokop Lorong 10 Market, Lutong Market, Mosjaya Market and Taman Tunku Market.

“Through our observations today there are still a lot of the people who are unaware of the real purpose of the movement control order, they still going about daily life as per normal,” he said.

“They think the movement control order is a nuisance or inconvenience, so there are still people milling around the markets,” Yii opined.

Some operators pleaded to have a couple of tables and chairs for their customers because their customers said dabao food back didn’t taste as nice.
