PADAWAN: The second phase of the Puncak Borneo street light project will set in motion this December.

Deputy Plantation Industries and Commodities Minister Datuk Willie Mongin said the Local Government and Housing Ministry (KPKT) had given additional fund amounting to RM1.9 million to illuminate the stretch along Puncak Borneo.

Apart from that, he said a total of RM950,000 has been allocated to implement the second phase of the project, and the tendering process is currently underway.

“Actually, street lights have been installed during the first phase of the project at main junction and sharp bends in the Puncak Borneo stretches.

“In the second phase, street lights will be installed from the junction near Puncak Borneo Prison to Kampung Annah Rais.

“Local residents have been waiting for over 20 years. Soon, they will be able to reap the benefits from it.

“This project to some extent will be able to provide prosperity to the local folk, especially providing comfort when driving at night,” he said.
