Raghad and Turkish discuss issues in lunch meet-up

KUCHING: Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Raghad Kurdi Taib, wife of the Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud discussed current issues during a meet-up with the Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to Malaysia Dr Merve Safa Kavakci yesterday.

According to a statement, she was invited to a luncheon at Dr Merve’s residence in Kuala Lumpur.

During the two-hour meet-up, Raghad and Dr Merve shared ideas on various current issues such as education, culture, charity, and especially in promoting tourism from both sides.

Raghad hoped the visit will strengthen and also commemorate the close friendship and bilateral ties between Sarawak and Republic of Turkey.

Also in attendance were Dr Merve’s mother Profesor Dr Gulseren Gulhan Kavakci, Raghad’s mother, Janbakli Hiam Ahmad, the Turkish Embassy in Kuala Lumpur’s Commercial Counsellor Elif Haliloglu Gungunes, and Tourism and Cultural Affairs Counsellor Begum Sahin.
