KUCHING: Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) does not only prioritise political matters but also gives equal attention to religious matters.

“Not specifically Islam but also all religions in Sarawak,” said Deputy Minister in the Premier’s Department (Law, MA63 and State-Federal Relations) Datuk Sharifah Hasidah Sayeed Aman Ghazali.

In the latest instance she said the party’s ethos can be seen through its commitment to holding the sacrificial meat (daging korban) distribution programme for the Samariang constituency in conjunction with Hari Raya Aidiladha.

“This is the beauty of our branch. No matter how busy we are in handling political matters, when it is time for us to perform our ibadah, we will perform our ibadah. Because for us, our unity and religion are important,” she said when attending the programme at the Samariang Service Centre on Today (July 11).

Hasidah, who is also Samariang Assemblywoman, reiterated that unity among all races is the Sarawak government’s main agenda.

“The government had never disregarded any religious issues raised. Our State government provides assistance not only to Islam but also to other religions through the establishment of the Unit For Other Religions (UNIFOR).

“The unity that we have is what I am grateful for. Apart from the assistance provided, the concept of our State government is so beautiful that for every religious occasion that we have, we will celebrate it together regardless,” she said.

Meanwhile, on the programme itself, she stated that it had sacrificed four cows for distribution to the people in the Samariang area.

“I am grateful that many of us who are economically stable are able to contribute to buying the cows and goats for ‘korban’ and share it with the less fortunate,” she said.
