SRI AMAN: About 100 members of Sarawak United People’s Party Simanggang branch and community leaders on Thursday paid respect to the late fifth Chief Minister Pehin Sri Adenan Satem on his first death anniversary.

Branch chairman of the party Datuk Francis Harden Hollis led the group in the lighting of candles in Sri Aman at around 6.30pm in the solemn event. In his speech at the event Harden, who i s al so SUPP Treasurer, urged all the party branches in the state to commemorate the second anniversary passing of the beloved Tok Nan next year at their own areas.

“This is important as a mark of respect for the late Tok Nan who had done a lot for all communities in the state. “For your informat ion a number of big events have been or are being held by SUPP branches in Sibu, Miri and Bintulu today to mark the legacies of the late Tok Nan in the state’s development. “It is not enough if only SUPP Central is holding a big do to mark the passing of the man who walked the talk.

All the party branches should plan to do something next year to mark his legacies in the state’s development,” he pointed out. Harden who is also Community Wellbeing Assistant Minister made the statement when speaking to reporters at the remembering Tok Nan event held by SUPP Simanggang Branch at the Sri Aman Waterfront on Thursday evening.

Meanwhile, Harden also urged all the people to give solid support to Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi (Dr) Abang Johari Tun Datuk Abang Openg who has continued with the good work of late Tok Nan. Such a support is vital for the new ‘Sarawak Captain’ in implementing with success the Digital Economy that will benefit all Sarawakians.

“At the same time, such suppor t is needed to boost the morale of the state in reclaiming the state’s rights pertaining to the Malaysian Agreement 1963 (MA63) started by Tok Nan,” Harden said. Also at the event were SUPP Lingga Branch chairman Kapitan Kueh Aik Seng, SUPP Simanggang Women chief Ling Siew Hung and councillors of Sri Aman District Council.
