SARATOK: Conducive sports facilities and infrastructure attracts the interest of the community to be more active.

In stating this, Kalaka assemblyman Mohamad Duri expressed his excitement that the spinning top court built in 2020 has revived the traditional sport here.

According to him, the ongoing organising of the sport ensured that the game of ‘pangkah gasing’ remains relevant and played together by the old and the young generations despite many other modern sports available.

“I am happy to see the sport is well received. Although ‘pangkah gasing’ is a traditional sport, it is still the main activity of the community and the youth in Saratok until now.

“At the Gasing Kenyalang Stadium in Kampung Tanjung here, competitions are often held for the community.

“This means that the top spinning court that was built around August 2020 succeeded in providing a more comfortable playing atmosphere for players of this traditional sport,” he said when attending the competition here recently.

With the success of the competition, he expressed his full support for more of the organisation of this traditional sport because it can bring back the glory days of the top spinning game for the new generation.

“With this, once in a while the younger generation is able to take their time off from spending time looking at their gadgets.

“Furthermore, with more competitions such as this today, it undoubtedly strengthens the bond between members of the community here,” he said while expressing his hope that the organisers will continue holding the competitions here while involving folks from other areas.
