KUCHING: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has announced RM1.2 billion allocated for repairing dilapidated schools and clinics in the country.

Anwar, who is also the Finance Minister said the amount set aside for 400 clinics and 380 schools which were required to be repaired or rebuilt urgently.

“After 60 years of independence, we are still facing issues such as dilapidated schools and clinics. I don’t want these (situations) to continue.

“All the repairing works (with the allocation from the budget) need to be completed by end of this year,” he said when tabling the revised Budget 2023 in Parliament yesterday.

The repairing of clinics, he said, will be under the Health Ministry while the school projects will be taken charge by the Education Ministry.

Apart from that, he said, the government had also provided allocation to tackle the issue of road accidents.

“We have allocated RM2.7 billion to maintain and upgrade federal roads and RM1.5 billion to upgrade and build new rural roads,” he pointed out, adding that RM300 million has been allocated for small infrastructure works for G1 to G4 contractors.
