RM242,000 allocation for slipway, jetty projects

KUCHING: A total of RM242,000 have been allocated by the state government through Mar ine Department Sarawak (JPLS) and Malaysian Fisheries Development Authority (LKIM) for the slipway and jetty projects in Kampung Temaga Melayu, Sematan.

Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Agro-Based Industry, Datuk Anthony Nogeh Gumbek said that this project to facilitate the fisherman as there is no such facilities in the village.

“Apart from facilitating the Kampung Temaga Melayu fisherman, it would also benefit the surrounding fisherman villages in bringing their marine catch on land,” said Anthony.

He told this to reporters during the press conference held after the handing over ceremony of RM15,000 to five recipients for the Fisherman Housing Special Project (PKPN) held at Kampung Temaga Melayu in Sematan yesterday.

Anthony also said that the implementation period for the Slipway and jetty project is expected to be in three month. Apart from that, Anthony also presented a cheque with a total amount of RM50,000 for the purpose of repairing the community hall and the its toilet.
