Road closures for Kuching City Street Parade 12 Aug

KUCHING: Come and witness the festivity of 46 contingents marching in the Kuching City Street Parade this Saturday, August 12, 2017 at 8.00pm!

This street procession will start from the Travillion Commercial Centre, Jalan Petanak, then will continue to Jalan Padungan, Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman Yaakub (passing Hilton, Waterfront) and ends  at Padang Merdeka.

In view of this, to ensure the smooth running of the procession, the Malaysia police force in collaboration with the Kuching North City Commission (DBKU) and the Kuching South City Council (MBKS) would have to close the road around the parade later.

Closure and roads diversion will be carried out on July 12, 2017 from 4.00 pm to 11.30 pm.

However, the closure and diversion requirement depends on the current situation that it considers appropriate based on traffic flow assessment by the Traffic Police Officer in order not to disturb other road users. The locations of the roads involved are as follows.

They are Jalan Market heading to Jalan Power, Jalan Khoo Hun Yeang Road to Jalan Power, Jalan Main Bazaar/ Jalan Lebuh Wayang to OUB Bank, Jalan Lebuh Java/ Jalan Gambier, Traffic light at Jalan Abell heading to Sri Aman roundabout, Sri Aman roundabout to Jalan Padungan, Traffic light at Jalan Song Thian Cheok to Jalan Padungan, St Mary Traffic light to Lebuh Wayang, along Jalan Mcdougall going to Lebuh Wayang, Traffic Light Jalan Lebuh Wayang to Traffic Light St. Mary and Traffic light at Jalan Abell/ Jalan Padungan.

For that reason, the public members wishing to witness this parade are advised to park their vehicles at the Reservior Park, Green Hill, Saujana Building, Medan Kereta Top Spot, Civic Centre, Politeknik parking space in Jalan Masjid and Parking space at MBKS Jublee ground.

The rehearsal session will be held from 9 August to 11 August 2017 and will also involve road closures and diversions at Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman Yaakup and Jalan Main Bazaar from 6.00 pm to ensure the success of the rehearsal.

We seek cooperation from the public to comply with traffic control signals directed by Police Officers who are on duty and are prohibited from parking on the road side near the event to avoid traffic jams. Enforcement actions will be taken against any public who fails to follows the direct by the Police Officer’s on duty.

Road users are advised to plan their travel time on that day.
